African American baby BOY born 9/1/2008 in Texas - Need family ASAP African American baby BOY was born Sept 1st in Texas weighing in at 6lb 8 oz, 18 inches long. He has been placed in the care of a Cradle Care provider until an adoptive family is found for him. The birth mom is 21 yrs old, African American, brown hair and brown eyes. She has a 2 yr old daughter that lives with her father (child’s father) and does not feel she has the support financially to parent a child at this time in her life. She is working and going to college full-time and does not feel she can accomplish these goals with the responsibility that caring for a newborn would bring. She did not receive prenatal care prior to the baby being born. She notes she did smoke about 5 cigarettes per day, she did not drink any alcohol or do illegal drugs during her pregnancy. She does note her sister has depression but she does not have any mental concerns. She also notes that she has a cousin that has the sickle cell trait but she does not nor does her other child. The expectant father is African American (from Honduras), 27 yrs old, brown hair and brown eyes. They are no longer in a relationship. He was aware of the pregnancy and had no comment with regards to the pregnancy or the adoption plan. He was not around once he found out she was pregnant and did not provide any emotional or financial support during the pregnancy. The birth mom does note that the birth fathers mother suffers from bipolar (holds a full time job and functions normally) but the birth father does not. As of January 1, 2008 in the State of Texas, an agency does not need a waiver of parental rights from a putative father. The birth parent must contact the Texas Putative Parent registry with 31 days of birth of the child or their rights are terminated by default. The attorney will terminate accordingly. The birth mom would like a Single professional Lady or a Married Traditional family with or without other children. She would like the family to support a more OPEN adoption plan with pictures and letters with an occasional phone call the first 2-3 years, then a possible visit once a year after the age of 2-3 at an agreed upon, mutual place. The fees for this opportunity are $$18,650 for everything but finalization and travel. The expectant mom would like to view profiles on Monday Sept 15th.
