I have received some replies, but I often question the quality of the call. I have not been ripped -off, but I am being very careful.

I am considering other metholds of attracting birthmothers.

It seems to me that there must be plenty of birthmothers willing to give up their baby if they could connect to people wanting to adopt.

My advice is not to waste a moment on those letters, unless you want to play an adoption game.

Get real, it's not there. Face it, you are not going to send any money to Africa nor buy a ticket for anyone to come here, so why bother!

What happened to the girl in trouble who wants to find a family who she can trust and consider an extended family and what happened to the nice adopting parents.

Adopting parents need to be vigilant in pursing birthmothers. It seems that they fall all over themselves when the phone rings.

How about verifying a little infomation. Who is she? Where does she live, what does she do? Come on! Compare it to anything else.

Do birthmothers get a free ticket? Adopting parents take the hook, line and sinker! Adopting parents need to get real and get past the heart strings.

It's business! Adopting parents do not want to admit, but it is true. How the trust is built over a phone call is beyond me. No attorney, no professional, just the ideal that you feel good about this person.

In closing, i would like to add a new phrase, 'We scammed ourselves".

Often through political correctness, we think that every adoptee has a hunger to know where his parents are and what the story was that lead up to has adoption. I am here to tell you that is not always the case.

Even to the dismay of the adoptive parents, sometimes the adoptee simply does not know or care about his history beyond the life as he has it.

It is like a bio-child not caring where he came from before birth. I have not given it much thought, but I really don't care beyond what I know now where I cam from

So you adoptive parents that want to build up the big open adoption story and what it took to adopt you child, take it easy a little and test the water to see if your adoptive child cares to hear the story or simply just wants a closed adoption and "wants to be a regular Kid". Maybe not popular in this correct world, but I can see Reggie's point.
